About the Role
We are looking for a developer who can build a clean front end and then wire up the backend behind it without things breaking. Most projects need both, and we would rather work with someone who owns the whole feature than someone who hands off halfway.
Our work splits between new builds and existing client systems. Some days you are starting from a blank repo, other days you are picking up a codebase someone else wrote and making changes without breaking what already works. You need to be comfortable with both.
This is freelance work, project by project, but we are not looking for one-off hires. We want people we can keep coming back to as work comes in. If you deliver well, there is steady work here.
You will be early in your career, and that is fine. What matters is that you learn fast, think for yourself, and care about the work holding up after you ship it.
What You Will Work On
- Front end builds in React, Next.js, and TypeScript
- Backend work in Node, including APIs and integrations
- Custom API integrations with third-party services
- WordPress development, including custom plugins
- Deployment and infrastructure on AWS
- CI/CD pipelines and version control through GitHub
- New builds from scratch and ongoing work on existing client projects
- Using AI coding tools well, as part of how you work rather than as a shortcut
What We Are Looking For
- 1 to 3 years building web applications
- Working knowledge of React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Node
- WordPress experience, including plugin development
- Comfortable integrating third-party APIs
- Some exposure to AWS
- Familiar with Git, GitHub, and basic CI/CD
- Comfortable working on existing codebases as well as new builds, including reading unfamiliar code and making safe changes
- Comfortable using time tracking tools and project management platforms such as ERPNext and ClickUp, and disciplined about logging time and keeping task status current
- Comfortable using generative AI coding tools in your workflow
- Strong creative thinking. We want people who suggest better approaches, not just execute tickets
- Keen to learn and take on things slightly beyond your current level
- Good spoken and written English. You will speak with us directly and sometimes with clients
How We Work
Fully remote, freelance basis. Depending on the job, we work either hourly or on an agreed fixed price. Smaller pieces of work are often better handled as a one-time price, larger ones hourly, and we agree which suits before anything starts.
Work is tracked through our project management system. We expect time logged accurately, task status kept current, honest estimates, and early communication if something changes.
